I know, right?

I can not stand the phrase, "I know, right?". I don't know what it is about it but it drives me crazy. I think part of it might be the fact that the person saying this, many times, does not in fact know. Right?

Intelligent person: "E=MC²"
Irritating person: "I know, right?"
